Koh Samui Supports Asian Music
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced the first ever ‘Samui Asia Music Festival’, which will take place on 18th and 19th August 2018.
The TAT has teamed up with Koh Samui Municipality and event management company IMC Live Group to organise the two-day event, which will feature popular musical entertainers from across Asia, in addition to local Thai artists.
The festival will cover an eclectic array of musical genres to entice as many visitors as possible. The current line-up includes Malaysian alternative rock band Estranged, Singaporean bang Shirlyn + The UnXpected, Hong Kong metal band Qiu Hong, Chinese funk band Jumpin’ Candy and Thai rock band Potato. Thai singer Tai Tanawut will also be performing.
Admission is free to the festival, with all the concerts stage in the island’s popular tourist hub, Chaweng. The talented line-up of performers will work well with the stunning setting to ensure that the festival is an unforgettable event.
“The inaugural Samui Asia Music Festival has all the makings of a great Asian music experience,” said Mr Noppadon Pakprot, the TAT’s deputy governor for domestic marketing.
“TAT is proud to be involved in the organisation and support yet another world-class event in Thailand, and one which is expected to further broaden Koh Samui’s appeal to Thai and international visitors alike,” he added.
In addition to the line up of top entertainers there will also be a number of opportunities to feast on tasty Thai food at the festival’s street market where festival goers will have the opportunity to sample a selection of delicious local specialities they may not have tried before.
Last year’s Paradise Island Festival in Koh Samui was a great success. Also held in Chaweng, the occasion attracted music lovers from all over Thailand, in addition to overseas visitors.
In addition to a diverse line-up of performers, the festival’s other attractions included an eclectic arts programme, which highlighted an array of Thai cultural treasures. These included fire performances, cookery classes, Thai massage workshops and Tai Chi lessons.
